Single family homes and apartment communities are scattered throughout the County of Sacramento.


The Housing Authority owns one, two, three, four, five, and six bedroom rental units throughout the county (see table below). They may be single floor units or two-story units. There are apartments, townhouses and single family homes. Some sites are gated. Many have play areas for children.

Accessible units are also available.

SHRA properties are non-smoking facilities.

SHRA conducts FBI criminal backgrounds and credit screenings on all adult applicants.


How much is the rent?
The rent amount is based on your income. Rent and utilities are calculated to be about 30 percent of your income.

What are the income requirements to live here?
Families must be low income: the total gross annual household income must not be more than the following amounts for your family size:

Can I receive a tenant-based voucher if I live here?
No. Public Housing is a different housing program. You may apply to the Housing Choice Voucher program when it is open.

Is the waiting list first come, first served?
No. Families of the same priority will be served in order based on the date/time their application was received. Priority is given to families that:
  • have a U.S. Veteran in the household
  • have been displaced by federal government action

Do I have to accept the first unit offered to me?
No. You will be offered units at two locations. You must accept one of these or be withdrawn from the waiting list.
